Mission
Candlewood Yacht Club encourages and promotes sailing and sailboat racing on Candlewood Lake.
We have many events to promote camaraderie among our members.




We have an active racing program. We race every weekend from May through mid-October. We have a one-design Flying Scot Fleet and a Cruising Fleet. The club owns a fleet of Sunfish that the members race in some of our regattas.

Work Parties
Our club is run by our members. Everyone contributes to help our club operate. We do not have any paid staff. This helps keep our membership fees low.
History
The club was founded 88 years ago, in 1938, on the beautiful Candlewood Lake




Boat storage
We have several types of storage for your boat during the season. We have:
9 moorings
57 dock slips
9 dry sail spaces
12 kayak rack
We also store most member boats on the club property during the winter.
Candlewood Lake
Candlewood Lake is located in Western Connecticut. At 8.4 square miles, it is the largest lake in Connecticut. It is a reservoir created by the power company in 1926 as a pumped power storage facility.
It is managed by the Candlewood Lake Authority.
