Notice of Race (NoR)
1. RULES
The event is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing and the FSSA Class Rules, except as altered by this NoR and the Sailing Instructions. Payment of the Entry Fee acknowledges agreement and consent to the rules and requirements of this NOR.
2. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions are available here.
3. COMMUNICATION
The official notice board is located at the Sail Loft.
All boats shall carry a VHF radio capable of communicating on channel 68.
The Race Committee intends to communicate with competitors and hail OCS boats using VHF radio.
4. ELIGIBILITY
For the 2026 Roger Punzi Memorial Regatta and the Connecticut Cup, the helmsperson shall be a current Active, Life, Junior, Club, or Family Member of the FSSA (www.fssa.com).
Members of the three Connecticut Flying Scot Fleets, 24, 142, and 177, are eligible for the Connecticut Cup.
For the Fleet 24 Championship, the helmsperson shall be an active CYC member, spouse, or dependent.
5. MEASUREMENT
Boats and sails must conform to the FSSA Official Plan. Each boat must carry equipment required by FSSA Specification Article S-V.2 (Racing Restrictions) and US Coast Guard requirements.
6. ENTRY
Preregistration is required. Register here.
7. FEES
The fee will be $75
The fee covers the skipper and one crew member for our Oktoberfest dinner, beverages, and snacks. Additional dinners for crew or family are $23 per person.
We will have light snacks available on both days; however, please plan to bring your own lunch and eat breakfast before arriving.

9. VENUE
The racing area will be on Candlewood Lake as indicated in the Sailing Instructions.
Candlewood Yacht Club is located in a private community. Please be considerate of our neighbors by following the speed limits. There are speed bumps on the private roads, so go SLOWLY over them! At the club, we have a single boat ramp for launching and a fixed yard arm with a chain hoist for those needing to remove bottom covers. We have scheduled hours on Friday evening and Saturday morning for boat preparation, and will have CYC members available to assist as needed. Please contact us with any additional questions.
10. LODGING
Parking is available for road campers; however, tent camping is not permitted on CYC grounds. There are numerous hotels in the Danbury area, about 20 minutes from CYC.
11. BERTHING
Both Dock Slips and Dry Sail berths are available for guest boats.
12. GREEN REGATTA
This event is a green regatta. This means reduced waste, increased recycling, and a more environmentally friendly regatta in general. Please bring your refillable water bottles. We will have a drinking water fountain on hand. Also, bring your mugs for coffee and/or beer. Coffee will be available in the morning. Lastly, beer will be provided after the races! Think green!
13. PENALTY SYSTEM
RRS Appendix T Arbitration will apply.
14. SCORING
The low-point scoring system of RRS Appendix A2 will be used, except that there will be no throw-outs.
15. PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 boats in the regatta.

17. RISK STATEMENT
RRS 3 “Decision to Race,” states: ‘The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone.’ By participating in this event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks. These risks include strong winds and rough seas, sudden changes in weather, failure of equipment, boat handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform and fatigue resulting in increased risk of injury.
Competitors participate entirely at their own risk. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage, personal injury, or death sustained in conjunction with or before, during, or after the race.
18. INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance.
