Finishing Races
How to finish races
As boats approach for the finish, start recording their sail number on the score sheet, even before they finish. This makes it easier to get all the finishes down when a bunch of boats finish together. If the boats don’t finish in the order you wrote them down, that’s ok.

For the Scots, write down the order of finish in the Place column.
For the Cruisers, write down the time, to the second, of each boat.
We no longer use the stopwatch; use the time from the digital clock stored on the RC boat. The scoring spreadsheet will calculate the elapsed time as the difference between the two times. This allows the stewards on the Chase boat to take the finish times if you need to shorten course.
Notes column entries
If someone is protesting another boat, they should tell you right after they finish. Record that in the notes column.
If someone does not finish, write DNF.
If someone retires, write RET.
If someone is over early at the start and did not restart properly, write OCS.
If someone checked in but did not start, write DNS.
Once all the boats in a fleet are finished, and there is still time for another race, go immediately to the next starting sequence.
